Province of Christ the Bread of Life Holds Annual Outing, Seminar, and Assembly
The members of the Province of Christ the Bread of Life gathered at the Eymard Campbell Retreat House on September 4th, 5th, and 6th for the annual outing, seminar, and assembly, respectively. On September 4th, after the morning prayer and Holy Eucharist, we enjoyed a day out at the “village end” in Padduka. Despite heavy showers before and after, the day was exceptionally sunny and bright. The highlight of the day was a cricket match, and all of us thoroughly enjoyed and celebrated each other’s presence and participation.
On September 5th, we had informative seminar sessions covering three important topics. The first session, conducted by Frs. Priyantha and Lakshan, focused on the Aggregates and their relevance to our Province. The second session, led by Fr. Justin Chawkan, discussed Mass stipends and their proper use. In the afternoon, we had an online session conducted by Aravinda Rajapaksa, a prominent lawyer, on the “Legal framework for minors and vulnerable individuals in Sri Lanka.” These sessions were educational and timely.
On September 6th, we held the provincial assembly during which each community presented a brief account of life and mission in their respective communities. This day also brought us extra joy as it coincided with the 48th anniversary of the priesthood of His Lordship Bishop Winston Fernando. He was the main celebrant of the Holy Mass, during which we joined him in praising and thanking God for the gift of priesthood and its anointing. We shared our joy with a special cake and breakfast sponsored by him.
We are grateful to God for bringing us together and strengthening our bonds in the Eymardian spirit and love.
