Blessed Sacrament Aspirancy

We are fortunate to have been gifted a beautiful home in Havelock Town by the late Mr. and Mrs. Dias. This generous donation took place in 1997, facilitated by Rev. Fr. Denzil Vithanage (then SSS, now a Diocesan priest in the USA). The Dias family willingly offered the house to us, and even after the Deeds were transferred to the Blessed Sacrament Congregation, we continued to care for Mrs. Dias until her passing.

In accordance with the donors’ intentions, this home has been utilized for the purpose of initial formation known as “Aspirancy.” Initially, individuals who successfully completed their Advanced Level exams were recruited to join us at Havelock Town to commence their initial formation. The primary focus during this period is to gradually introduce the candidates to the Congregation and provide them with English language instruction, enabling them to pass the National Seminary Entrance Exam and qualify for further studies in Philosophy and Theology. Additionally, we have established a student facility in the annex, where students who have completed their Ordinary Level exams can study for their Advanced Level exams. These students are enrolled at St. Peter’s College in Bambalapitiya for their formal education.

Over the years, numerous religious individuals have served at Havelock Town as Directors and Co-Directors. Some notable names include Rev. Frs. Christopher, Gnananesan, Ignatius, Justin, Nilindra, Roger, Louiston, Antony Marcus, Emil, Herald, Dilan, Sunil, Chaminda, and Samantha.

We express eternal gratitude to God and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dias for their precious gift of this home, which serves as a training ground for SSS religious individuals preparing for future missions within the Congregation. May the donors rest in peace!
