celebration of Parents’ Day and Christmas at the Blessed Sacrament Scholasticate

The Blessed Sacrament Scholasticate at Ampitiya recently celebrated its annual Parents’ Day and Christmas event with immense joy and profound meaning. Under the guidance of Fr. Sagara Jayamanne, SSS, the Director of Scholastics, and Fr. Sunil Rupasinghe, SSS, the co-director, the students orchestrated a heartfelt and purposeful gathering.

Parents arrived on the evening of December 16th, commencing the event with a reverent gathering to pray the Holy Rosary, followed by a delightful dinner. The subsequent day, starting with the Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament at 7:15 a.m., unfolded with morning prayers and Benediction.

The highlight of the day was a significant meeting between the esteemed guests, Rev. Fr. Justin Chawkan, SSS, as the Chief Guest, and Rev. Fr. Oliver Julian, SSS, as the Guest of Honor, engaging with the parents. This pivotal discussion emphasized the pivotal role parents play in the formation and development of seminarians.

The gathering was graced not only by parents but also by siblings, their families, teachers, friends, and generous benefactors. Together, we raised our voices in melodious carols and rejoiced in the solemnity of the Holy Eucharist. The presence of Fr. Rinu, RCJ, further added to the jubilation, representing the two Rogationists at the Scholasticate.

Following a communal lunch, ample time was allocated for everyone to share their joys and sorrows, fostering connections and mutual support. The community organized engaging recreational activities and friendly conversations, accompanied by thoughtful gifts from Santa, ensuring an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie.

We express our deepest gratitude to God for the unwavering dedication of parents who have selflessly entrusted their children to the path of priesthood. Moreover, we cherish the opportunity provided by this gathering, uniting us all in our shared commitment to supporting and nurturing these young men throughout their formative journey.
